Geared for those who have completed their certificate programs for Coastal Navigation & Coastal Skipper on our West Coast Cruise & Learn, the next step is Flotillas for skippers who want more on the water experience in coastal/tidal waters and want to charter for the first time as well as for those who just want to join us for the experience and have some fun.

When you have completed your sailing courses, you are theoretically qualified to charter a sailboat. But if you are still not quite sure and confident to start cruising on your own, then it si time to go on a flotilla cruise. There cruises are a great way to increase your skill and confidence levels while you have the safety net of other boaters nearby and competent skipper on board. They also make a wonderful vacation getaway experience.

The concept is, following a briefing by an instructor/leader, a group of boats sail each day together to an agreed upon destination. Participants go at their own pace meeting at the next anchorage or marina. The choice of destinations depends on weather and/or the ambitions of the group.

Skippers who join us for the flotilla have the opportunity to undertake the skipper's responsibilities for their

own boat, crew, meal planning and so forth.
